Our drive today took us through the scenic splendor of Lake Superior's North Shore, ending at Grand Marais where we stayed the night. It is spectacular and mystical, with fog shielding the view of the lake most of the way. We found several turnouts where we could enjoy the rocky coastline, and our camp spot is about 50 yards from the shore. Later in the summer, this little town will be bustling with tourists, but now there are just the die-hard travelers, even one from Arizona!
Sascha wasn't sure what to make of the shore, backing away in alarm as little waves broke against the rocks. She's a trooper, and enjoys every new adventure at each stop!
This morning, the sun is out, so we're looking forward to our drive the rest of the way along the North Shore, and back into Canada near Thunder Bay, Ontario. We're hoping the "lake effect" chill we've experienced will be diminished once we head further inland and onward to Rainbow Falls, then to Sault Ste. Marie tomorrow.
Hey guys - Beth here . . . you are headed to my home town and where I grew up! Terrace Bay - stop and say hi for me! So excited to see you are in my home territory.
