Crossing Wisconsin to Minneapolis

Our friend Rob Knight at the new Intervarsity headquarters, where he's preparing for Urbana 2015

Big puffy clouds along the way this morning from Wisconsin to Minneapolis

Mennonites selling cookies at the gas stop in Wisconsin - delicious!

The rolling hills of western Wisconsin - so green and lush with all their rain!

...and we're officially in the land of 10,000 lakes!
We left Chicago to get to Madison in time for lunch with our friends Rob & Sherry Knight, who used to live in Santa Barbara and moved to Madison so he could oversee operations for Urbana, a worldwide missions event held every three years, and will run again this year starting just after Christmas for a week. It was so good to re-connect with them and learn a bit about their plans (and do some lobbying for a return to Santa Barbara!).
We went on to Wisconsin Dells, and having been completely turned off by the cheesy faux-Las Vegas atmosphere there, we found a quiet little family RV campground and spent a quiet night. Up again and on the road today, it was nice to pass through the lovely, green rolling hills so familiar to me from my childhood.
We're now at my cousin Mary's house in Minneapolis, and will have a famous Chicago-style pizza from Lou Malnati's for dinner, then a visit to my parents' graves.
After church tomorrow, we'll go to brunch with Mary and Jim's daughter Jackie, and at 3pm, their daughter Shannon and her family that we visited in Bratislava on our Danube cruise will arrive home for the summer. It will be fun to see them again!
