We arrived in Riding Mountain National Park on Friday afternoon, and spent that evening with John & Audrey Bender and her sisters Muriel and Doreen and their husbands. They are descendants of my great-grandmother's brother, and they were able to share more stories of their lives in Manitoba. It was so wonderful to connect with this long-lost part of our family! They showed us around Clear Lake where Doreen and Audrey and their husbands have cottages, and John & Audrey took us on a driving tour around this summer paradise of hiking, golfing, boating and camping. The town features the oldest log cabin theater in North America!
Sascha enjoyed walking through a garden there, and as we were driving up the road, two nearly grown cubs leisurely crossed the road, and sure enough, there partially screen by the bushes, was their mama. So glad they were peaceful as we photographed them lumbering off into the forest!
